I began the Month of Claire with an easy 7 miles on the treadmill. I would have loved to have run these miles outside, but it's snowy and icy again, and I am going to stop having anxiety about things over which I have no control (if I say it enough, it becomes true). My left (non-bone bruised) knee has been acting up since the Manhattan Half, but rather than feeling sorry for myself, I'm looking forward to starting PT on Friday and getting all my parts realigned. I will return to good working order, and I will run a 3:30 in April. I'm positively brimming with enthusiasm!
So yeah, I've been feeling a little bad for myself, a little frustrated that it seems like one weather inconvenience, injury, or daily annoyance after another keeps getting in my way, but whining about it is, quite frankly, exhausting. So I'm going to stop. Instead, I'm going to acknowledge that:
- 11 weeks is plenty of time
- PT was prescribed for a reason
- if training were all unicorns and double rainbows, then running marathons and qualifying for Boston wouldn't be especially bad ass at all.
In honor of the official closing ceremonies of January: the Month of Pity Parties, please enjoy the double rainbows. Never not funny.

Way to get back out there. PT (and your great motivation!) will hopefully be what you need to get back on track.
ReplyDeleteOkay - it's your birthday month! You are going to have a great February and 11 weeks is more than enough time for a superstar like you to get ready for a 3:30.
ReplyDeleteUm, sorry to say you will have to share this month with me!!! It has also been known as the Month of Baker since my birthday falls here as well. I'm going to email you details for my party. When is your day? Mine is the 15th.
ReplyDeletePS- dont worry about Boston, you will kill it!
Hope this month turns out better!!
ReplyDeleteThe month of you! Go get 'em!
ReplyDeleteLife is full of ups and downs! I know, how cliche of me. But you're right, whining IS exhausting. May as well use that energy elsewhere. So - good for you for planning Month of Claire!! You'll rock out
