Expert Advice: How to Stock Your Pantry

If you came to Will Run For Beer today because you Googled "how to stock your pantry" and were directed here, I'm sorry. You will be sorely disappointed. (And Google is sorely mistaken about what it is I do.) Because I imagine that, if you're the type who's prone to Googling "how to stock your pantry," you're envisioning a near-future with a warm and cozy kitchen, smelling of cleaning products and scented candles, maybe a big casserole dish of Engagement Chicken bubbling away in the oven, your significant other on his/her way home to dole affection upon you, all against the backdrop of sea salts, cilantro, rosemary, and extra virgin olive oil. That sounds really lovely, of course. But those aren't the kitchen essentials I picked up tonight, and not just because I think cilantro is an affront to my intelligence and a threat to national security.

Beers. Cookie dough. Cheese.

Yes.

The cheese is in fact a pantry staple for me. the cookie dough was an impulse buy. That I've made several times... But the Smuttynose Summer Weizen was an inspired choice.

You may have heard that today was the New York City Marathon lottery (Brad described it as "the only lottery I never want to win again). I was not among the 8% of applicants selected. So now the world is my oyster in terms of a fall marathon. And another PR (I'm a greedy bitch). A repeat appearance at Wineglass is high on my list. But I'm hearing great things about the Smuttynose Hamptons Marathon in New Hampshire as well. It's close to New York, it's in October and likely to have great marathoning weather, it's flat and fast, and it's sponsored by a brewery. All signs are pointing to "yes."

But before I register, I should be sure. Not sure about the course or my plans 6 months from now. I just want to be sure this is something I'd enjoy drinking after 26.2 miles. I'll let you know.
